How to Make an Appointment

Please make a separate appointment for each person who wishes to see the doctor.
If you have a number of issues you need to discuss you may be asked to make a further appointment.

Surgery Extended Hours

These appointments are for pre-bookable routine appointments only and CANNOT be booked on the day. It is hoped this will provide a better, more convenient service for our working patients. Any urgent medical problems will be directed to the out of hours service.

Late Policy

In order to maintain the efficiency of the appointment system, late arrivals may be required to re-book.

How to obtain a home visit

Please ring before 10.30am. Home visits are at the discretion of your doctor. Patients requesting a home visit must be housebound or too ill to come to the surgery.  Patients are asked to attend the surgery where possible.

Please try to make arrangements with family/friends/taxi to attend. Patients are expected to sort out their transport problems to attend the surgery.

Nurse Practitioner

Requests for same day appointments will be managed by the Nurse Practitioner.

The Nurse Practitioner's role is to ensure that the patient gets the most appropriate care at the most appropriate time depending on the problem. They can prescribe medicines if necessary. You will need to leave a telephone number where you are available to speak to the nurse practitioner about your concern.

You may be offered advice on how to manage the problem at home, given an appointment with the Nurse Practitioner or another health care professional. You may be offered an appointment that day or in the near future depending upon the medical urgency of the problem. Please plan ahead for routine consultation with GP's.

Please note that all the calls are recorded to protect the patient and surgery staff. Please be assured that your confidentiality will be maintained at all times.

How to obtain test results

Please contact the surgery to get the results of any test that you have had done between 12.00 and 5pm.

Routine blood, urine and swab results usually take around 3-5 working days to be processed and reported.

X-rays and ultrasounds take 7 days and cervical smears 8-10 weeks.

Choose and Book

The surgery offers Choose and Book, which is a service that allows you to choose your hospital or clinic and book an appointment with a specialist.

Your GP will be able to tell you which hospitals and clinics are available for your treatment via computer. You discuss options available for treatment, and, if you know where and when you would like to be seen, you may be able to book your appointment with a specialist before you leave the surgery.

You may want more time to consider your choices. If so, you can take an appointment request letter away with you and book your online appointment later.  Alternatively, you can telephone the choose and book booking line to make your appointment.

The appointment request letter shows your appointment reference number, password and the list of hospitals and clinics available for you to choose from. Each appointment has its own reference number.
